On Tuesday, September 26, 2017, Sheriff Benny N. Napoleon joined Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy and Wayne County Register of Deeds Bernard J. Youngblood for a press conference to announce charges in a new deed fraud case.

"One of the things that I always tell people is that if a deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is." said Sheriff Napoleon.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced during the press conference that charges were issued against four people accused in a Detroit deed fraud scheme that affected 23 people.

Prosector Worthy said the alleged scam occurred between January 2016 and March 2017. The Wayne County Register of Deeds Bernard J. Youngblood advised property owners to sign up for an account on waynecountylandrecords.com(http://waynecountylandrecords.com) to keep track of transactions on their property. He also suggested property buyers to seek the assistance of a Realtor when buying a home or land.
