On Thursday, November 9, 2017, five officers from the Wayne County Sheriff's Office graduated from the Wayne County Regional Police Academy. The graduation ceremony took place at the Schoolcraft College Vista Tech Center in Livonia. The site was packed by a crowd comprising hundreds of family members, loved ones, friends, and co-workers of the 57 graduates of the class.

The graduates took great pride as they recognized for the multitude of tasks associated with the completing the 17 week police academy. These tasks included: 688 hours of training, reviewing over 2500 pages of instructional material, 1600 test questions, 5 tests in the critical skill areas of law, defensive tactics, firearms, emergency vehicle operations, and first aid. As a final step to the process each graduate also had to successfully complete the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) Licensing Exam.

The five Wayne County Sheriff's Office graduates, pictured and indentifed below, are now fully licensed police officers in the State of Michigan and Sheriff Benny N. Napoleon has conferred police powers on each of them. Prior to their graduation from the police academy, each of these officers was assigned to work in one of the three jails operated by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Now that they are fully licensed, each of them may bid for any number of positions in units outside of the jails, such as: Courts, Road Patrol, Park Patrol, Tether, and Friend of the Court Enforcement.

Sheriff Napoleon is proud of the officers' professional accomplishments and wishes them well as they are now eligible to perform additional tasks on behalf of his office.
