Proof of Incarceration

Many times those who have been incarcerated at the Wayne County Jail find it necessary to obtain proof of their incarceration for various reasons.  The Sheriffs Office will provide documentation that an individual has been or is currently incarcerated for a fee of $10.00 per request.

The proof of incarceration may be obtained one of two ways;
Active inmates can obtain a request form from the Social Worker, Social Services specialist, or the Law Library.  The request form must be completely filled out.  The completed request form may be given to any deputy or staff person to be forwarded to the Jail Classification Unit. Requests will be processed and the response will delivered back to the inmate.  The $10.00 fee will be deducted from the inmate's account.
Inactive inmates can pick up a request form at the Front Desk of Jail Division I.  The completed form may be returned in person or mailed via U.S. Mail.  The request shall include a money order for $10.00 made payable to: The Wayne County Sheriffs Office.  The request must include a self-addressed stamped envelope if you wish to have the response mailed.
Allow two to five days for processing of a Proof of Incarceration Request.
