The basic categorization of the inmates that we housed are Pre-Sentenced, Sentenced and Holds.
Holds
Detainees with holds are those that are wanted solely by another jurisdiction without any local charges pending.
Writs
Detainees who are under the jurisdiction of another facility and in the current custody of the Wayne County Jail for court proceedings.
Sentenced
Detainees who have been found guilty of charges and have been sentenced to the Wayne County Jail.
Pre-Trial
Detainees who have a case assigned to the courts and awaiting final adjudication.
Civil
Detainees who have a case assigned that is awaiting final adjudication for a civil charge(s).
Other
Detainees whose charges were satisfied and they are awaiting either a (1) Mental Health Discharge Plan (2) another agency picking up on a warrant or detainer, or (3) Final Release processes from Registry
Bookings can have one or many Charges within them, and each Charge will have an Originating Agency. This is a count of those Agencies. An example is a Booking may have multiple Charges filed from Detroit PD, Highland Park, and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Each Agency is counted once for this example Booking and in these summary charts though there may be many Charges from these Agencies within this one Booking.
