The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was thrilled to break ground on a $1.4M project that has been over 10 years in the making! This massive project could not have been possible without the assistance of Wayne County Executive Warren C. Evans and his team, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners, and the Department of Public Services. The revitalization efforts that will soon be underway at the WCSO’s Marine Division at Elizabeth Park in Trenton will provide a much safer environment for the officers and public. It will also allow for a quicker response for the marine unit! THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED!

The WCSO has the only marine base stationed directly on the river in the downriver area. This allows us to lend boat space to other agencies for joint operations and for safer and quicker deployment for employees. It also offers a safer environment for the general public.

This Project includes construction of park [...]

Sheriff Washington and Recruiter Mark Diaz had a great time at the Mexican Independence Day Celebration with the Mexican Consulate of Detroit at the Oakland University Golf Course! Thank you for allowing them to be a part of such a meaningful event — and WOW the food! Mark said later: “hopefully my tastebuds grow back!”

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office would like to warn the public about an ongoing phone scam in the county that has already robbed people of thousands. We have dozens of victims already, and more continue to come forward.

It often begins with a simple phone call to the victim. The perpetrator, using names of real members of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, tells the victim they missed jury duty or that they (or a loved one) have an outstanding warrant. The phone number appears to be coming from the WCSO, but it is not. The scammers already have the victim’s personal information and then ask to either verify it or get more information. They then ask for money, often, in the form of cryptocurrency, but have also asked for debit card numbers and have used Apple Pay. We have some victims who have lost thousands of dollars and believe there may be countless others who [...]

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit joined teens, children and parents in River Rouge for a special Back to School block party! The kids loved meeting, petting and taking pictures with the horses, and we’re sure our horses loved the attention, too!

Our recruiters stopped by the 2022 Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show! They’re always working hard to find new talent to join the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Our Camaro always seems to get a lot of attention, along with our tricked out recruiting Explorer. Recruiter Mark Diaz said, “it was a hoot!” If you’re interested in a career in law enforcement, don’t hesitate and JOIN OUR TEAM! https://www.sheriffconnect.com/wayne-county-sheriffs-recruitment-office/

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office New Officer Entry School Graduating Class of 08-22’s motto was “Live with honor, serve with pride.” We could not be prouder of them! Please congratulate these 11 Graduates for their hard work!

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office purchased 11 G5 Fully Automatic AEDs manufactured by ZOLL Medical to carry in our patrol vehicles. Each AED will come with ZOLL’s Mobilize Rescue Compact kit, which also includes a tourniquet, chest seal, pressure dressing, quick clot and mobile phone app to help provide real-time help in guiding the deputy through CPR and other types of medical emergencies, such as severe bleeding.

“Our deputies are out on patrol 24/7, and often, first on scene. This was an opportunity to shorten the gap from when a sudden cardiac arrest victim hits the ground to when a life-saving AED could be attached while we wait for our hardworking medical professionals to arrive,” said Sheriff Raphael Washington. “Our role is to protect and serve, and we thought it was important to protect our citizens against the biggest killer, knowing we will likely be there first. We’ve purchased AEDs for some of our patrol [...]

59 names were added to the Michigan Law Enforcement Officers Memorial wall in Lansing on Saturday, July 30, and sadly, four of them were very dear to our hearts:

Commander Donafay Collins (3/25/20), Corporal Dean Savard (4/3/20), Corporal Bryant Searcy (9/2/20), and Sheriff Benny Napoleon (12/17/20). #WeShallNeverForget

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard was incredibly humbled to provide final honors to Oakland County Sheriff K-9 Eiko. It was an extreme pleasure to be in the presence of Oakland County Sheriff Deputy Bob Loken’s family once again, although it was another somber occasion. We send our deepest condolences.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has opened a new satellite police station at 15101 Michigan Ave, Dearborn, and it’s the first of many to come! In collaboration with local police departments, we’re increasing community policing and police visibility. Sheriff’s Deputies will be at the Satellite Station intermittently throughout the week and will use it for report writing, meeting with citizens, and taking complaints. It will also be used to host various types of meetings and training as needed. Thanks to all who made this happen!
